Special Election
A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
Lisbon Community School District and Bennett Community School District will hold special elections asking voters to approve public measures.
Bennett Community School District will also fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors.
All public measures require 50% yes vote to pass.
Dates & Deadlines
- Tuesday, February 4th at 5 PM - Affidavit of Candidacy and Nomination Petition due to the Bennett School Secretary for candidates wishing to run for the School Board of Directors vacancy at Bennett Community School District
- Wednesday, February 12th - 1st day absentee ballots can be mailed, if ballots are available
- Wednesday, February 12th - 1st day for early in-person absentee voting at the Auditor's Office, if ballots are available
- Monday, February 17th - President's Day (county offices are closed)
- Tuesday, February 18th - Last day to to mail absentee requests and pre-register to vote
- Monday, March 3rd - Last day for early in-person absentee voting
Extended hours In addition to regular hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., extended office hours will be as follows:
- Tuesday, February 18th – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, February 28th - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, March 4th - Election Day; Polls and Auditor's Office open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On Election Day, Lisbon Community School District voters will vote at the Mechanicsville Memorial Building, 102 N John St., Mechanicsville.
On Election Day, all Bennett Community School District voters will vote at the Bennett Community Building, 242 Main St., Bennett.
Sample ballots will be posted once approved by the appropriate district.
Voter Registration
Pre-Registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after February 18 will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot in-person. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by February 18, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on Election Day.
All absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day to be considered on time to be counted.
