NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE ELIGIBLE VOTERS OF CEDAR COUNTY, IOWA, THE PRIMARY ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 2024.
The sample ballot is published with this notice. The ballot being published contains the first rotation of names as prescribed by Section 49.31, Subsection 2, of the Code of Iowa. The polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m. Voters must vote in their county of residence. Please read this notice carefully to determine your correct voting location. Voting locations have changed for some voters.
The precinct polling places and addresses are as follows:
Cass/Center/Iowa/Rochester – EMA Building, 1410 Cedar St., Tipton.
Dayton/Fairfield – St. John’s United Church of Christ, 320 9th Avenue, Clarence.
Farmington/Sugar Creek – Community Center, 605 5th Ave., Durant.
Fremont/Red Oak – Masonic Hall, 215 E. Broadway St., Stanwood.
Gower/Springdale – Bethany Lutheran Church, 235 South 2nd St., West Branch.
Inland – Community Building, 242 Main St., Bennett.
Linn/Pioneer – Memorial Building, 102 N John St., Mechanicsville.
Massillon/Springfield – City Hall, 501 Main Street, Lowden.
Tipton 1, 2 & 3 – Courthouse, 400 Cedar Street, Tipton.
West Branch 1 – Bethany Lutheran Church, 235 South 2nd St., West Branch.
All voters wishing to pre-register must do so by no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024. Election Day Registration will require photo ID and proof of residence. Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle. A Public Test of the electronic voting system to be used in this election will be held on Friday, May 24, at 9 a.m. at the Cedar County Courthouse, Room 107, 400 Cedar Street, Tipton, IA.
Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered—such as voters registering to vote on Election Day—and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 10. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification.
